Covey / Paperback / Published 1990"A revolutionary guidebook to achieving peace of mind by seeking the roots of human behavior in character and by learning principles rather than just practices." Someone else said this, not me, but I might have said it. Covey discusses his own ideas behind success. This one is a bit more of a scientific or practical read compared to Chopra's, which is more Zen. Still, another mandatory read at least once in your life.
Emotional Intelligence ~
Usually ships in 24 hours Daniel Goleman / Paperback / Published 1997Somewhat controversial, but packed with some great ideas. David Goleman proposes that "emotional intellegence" is a better indicator of human success than IQ. People who possess high emotional intelligence are the people more apt to succeed and enjoy life. Because emotional intelligence isn't fixed at birth, Goleman outlines how adults as well as parents of young children can sow the seeds. Some pretty nifty ideas. Another at least once in your life read.
You notice we have listed several books about evaluating and enhancing human behavior. So what do these books have to do with finding a job?Maybe a lot more than we give credit. Having a better grasp on our selves and what makes life really work can enhance not just a job search campaign, but our future career development. It's like putting down a cornerstone before laying the bricks of a career. We will all be more successful understanding the grand plan before deciding what career path to pursue, the natural job to seek out, and what style of resume to write. Even late in our careers these books are worth reading. Should we stop learning and stretching, we will stop growing.
